The Federal National Mortgage
Association purchases loans from mortgage companies and depository
institutions. The FNMA is a private secondary market
investment corporation that is traded on the NYSE. The Federal
Home Loan Mortgage Corporation is similar to the FNMA, but is
government sponsored. Also like the FNMA, Freddie Mac
is traded on the NYSE. The Government National Mortgage Association
(GNMA) is a government owned agency that acts as a
conduit for FHA and VA loans. Ginnie Mae guarantees the
timely principal and interest payments to investors. |
